Gotta Dance and Singin in the Stuff
Have you had the "musical" discussion? You know... I love musicals / I hate musicals?
Musicals have been a big part of my life. I've performed, written, produced and directed musicals. Heck, I've been a veritable Barbra Streisand! Okay, so my nose is big but that's as far as it goes to resembling Babbs! Most of the time when I get into the "musical" discussion the arguments are all the same from the opposing side. See if you haven't either heard this or said this...
"It's not real! Where in real life do people just break out in song and dance?"
Well, thanks to Jake of Jake Rhymes with Cake I would like to share this wonderful tidbit that people can just break out in song... think of what this world would be like if it really happened?
Enjoy... and let me know what your favorite musical is or whether you're still on the other side.
This post is part of the Watercooler Wednesday discussion going on over at Ethos. Check it out HERE.

Thanks, Dan. That one made me smile!

Oh my gosh!!! Dan, I am almost crying from laughing so hard. You have just pegged a brand of humor and bravado that I LOVE. I have to borrow this for my own blog...I'll give you publishing I promise. I LOVE THIS.
(Perhaps it's because I too grew up being in and going to musicals, always wishing I could break into song when something stirred or disturbed me.)
Fave's: I love all the oldies but goodies: Annie, Oliver, My Fair Lady, Grease, Oklahoma, etc. I like more contemporary ones as well but after reading/watching your blog I am feeling inclined to sing aloud "I Feel Pretty" from West Side Story. Starting....now.

That was funny...I watched with the kids (4 and 2) and they were smiling and dancing too...something about spontaneous song tickles the bone!
Faves: "Les Miserables" (tops my list), "My Fair Lady", "Miss Saigon" is one of my fave soundtracks -- unfortunately I never actually saw it, "Oliver", does "Mary Poppins" count?! Oh, and "Moulin Rouge" for a modern take... I have, however, never seen "Sound of Music"

That was so funny! My kids thought it was hilarious.
I love "Les Miserables"
I performed in The Boy friend, Grease, and the Lion, the witch and the wardrobe back in HS. Love musicals and plays!

Can I reveal a little known secret about myself? I am known to break into musical scores over mundane everyday things so this is right up my alley! Somewhere, Jon is shaking his head. My girls and I were smiling so big at this post!
I am a HUGE musical fan and my kids are as well. They are the only 5 and 3 year olds I know who have been singing Do-Re-Mi from Sound of Music since they were 2 and 4 years old. its adorable! Obviously, its on in our house all the time.
Favorite musical: White Christmas
Favorite Disney musical: Little Mermaid
Where I wish they would break out in musical form: the DMV Ha!

I have watched this 3x, twice on my own and once to show my family. We all love it!! My goofy family (well, at least some of us) break out in song for no apparent reason and sing about whatever...Of course we only save the performance for family functions, never in public...but it always makes us laugh and enjoy ourselves, even when we sing way off key!
Thanks for the video, Dan. It's making a lot of people smile!
My favorites:1776, Fiddler on the Roof, Sound of Music and Singing in the Rain.

The looks on people's faces were priceless! If there was more entertainment like this, I'd frequent the malls more often. Favorite musicals = Sound of Music, Grease, Les Mis.
