It has been a while since I've last updated you here on my blog about Jamie Whitmore. If you've been following Jamie's progress you know she is now blogging her journey over HERE. Briefly, here's the latest. Jamie and Courtney are doing well. She is adjusting to life with a disability that may or may not go away. Most likely she'll never regain full function of her left foot due to the damage done to her nerves from the tumor and the removal of it. However, there's always a possibility the body can compensate and other nerves take over... if you know Jamie, she's a fighter and has a reserve of determination I've not seen in many. Today she begins a month long process of radiation to further her cancer treatment in order to keep the disease at bay. Because of the likelihood these treatments will cause her infertility; required she harvest some of her eggs so she and Courtney can start a family later . Doing so was expensive. Also expensive is the need to do some work around the house to make Jamie's life a bit easier with her new disability... But this is where you can help.
This week Extreme Home Makeover put out a casting call asking for people to nominate a candidate in the Sacramento area who could benefit from an extreme home makeover. Yeah, Jamie qualifies! So here's what I did and what I'm asking you to do... Nominate her. All I had to do was email them how Jamie has touched so many lives and about her new physical challenges. This show could do a lot to raise awareness for the Challenged Athletes Foundation as well as the sport of triathlon. But on a personal level it can really help two wonderful people begin their new journey together with much needed assistance. Below I'm putting the instructions that Courtney put on Jamie's blog. You may not know them personally but if you can appreciate all they have gone through raise your voice to the producers of Extreme Home Makeover and tell them you know of a fitting family who could use their help.

ABC's EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION
SEARCHING FOR HEROIC FAMILIES
Do you know someone whose home deserves an Extreme Makeover? If so, the producers of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition want to hear from you! Ty Pennington and his crew have been all across the map and they are ready to drive that famous bus into your neighborhood.
What does it take to be picked for an Extreme Makeover?
We are in search of real heroes - people that have amazing strength and who have put their own needs aside to help someone else. In addition to heroics, the producers are looking for families whose homes are in dire need of help. We don't want to tear down a nice looking house. We want to see houses that look like they might fall down on their own!
To be eligible: A family must own their own single family home and be able to show producers how a makeover will make a huge difference in their lives.
Interested families should: e-mail a short description of their family story to – casting CAsacramento@gmail.com.
Nominations must include:
1. The names and ages of each member of the household
2. A description of the major challenges within the home.
3. Explanation of why this family is deserving, heroic, or a positive role model in their community.
4. Photos of the family and a photo of the home
5. Don't forget to include a contact phone number.
The deadline:
for nominations is July 14th, 2008. Don't Delay!
